Celebration of the Day of the African Child with a Visit to the Abangoh Good Sheperd Home Orphanage
The rationale behind the members of CAWAS visiting the orphanage, stemmed from commemorating the day of the African Child. Members convened at the Head Office and wrote messages on card board papers, illustrating and depicting the different rights of the African child.
At the orphanage, the sister in charge welcomed the CAWAS team, the children were assembled to also welcome the CAWAS team. The children were educated and sensitize on the day of the African child and the reasons why it is commemorated annually. Different team members spoke to the children about the importance of the rights of the child; some of these rights included the right to live, right to basic medical healthcare, the right to education, the right to freedom of speech, right to a home, right to love and be loved etc.
The members had an interactive session with the children after which the children entertained the CAWAS team with beautiful religious songs. There was singing and dancing.
Next was the presentation of gifts allocated for the children by the CAWAS team which were basic needs, food items and clothing. Later on there was group photograph with the CAWAS team and the children. A representative of CAWAS signed the visitor’s book. The day ended on an amazing note.
Members departed at about 4pm.
